Expressing his gratitude to the Venezuelan leader, he wrote on Truth Social: "Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect."

The meeting occurred days after  US special forces captured the country's authoritarian leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flore,s spectacularly.

What did the Norwegian Nobel Committee say about sharing the Peace Prize previously?

The Norwegian Nobel Committee earlier issued a clarification stating that the Nobel Peace Prize cannot be “shared, revoked, or transferred,” after US President Donald Trump had said he was ready to accept the laureate if Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado offered it to him.

“The facts are clear and well established. Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others. The decision is final and stands for all time,” the Committee said in a statement.
