Next round of US-Iran talks likely to be held in Islamabad on Monday: Reports

Iranian and US negotiators are expected to attend the next round of talks in Islamabad on Monday, according to media reports.

An Iranian official told CNN that fresh discussions between Iranian and American representatives are scheduled to take place in Pakistan’s capital.

However, US officials have not confirmed the meeting.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire following weeks of heightened tensions along their shared border.

Trump said the truce would begin at 5 PM EST (3:30 AM IST), describing it as an initial step toward broader peace efforts. He added that the agreement followed discussions with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Talks held in Washington

According to Trump, representatives from Israel and Lebanon met earlier this week in Washington for their first such engagement in more than three decades.

The discussions were held alongside US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The US administration has tasked senior officials, including Vice President JD Vance and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, with continuing efforts to secure a longer-term arrangement.

Proposal for direct talks at White House

Trump also indicated plans to invite Netanyahu and Aoun to the White House for direct talks—an engagement that would mark the first significant high-level meeting between Israel and Lebanon since 1983.

The proposal follows ongoing diplomatic outreach aimed at maintaining communication and building momentum toward a more durable peace framework.
