nCoV continues its fury in US, 2508 die in single day

Washington/UNI: The storm of pandemic novel coronavirus continues unabated in the United States as the total number of cases crossed the 5,00,000-mark with death toll soaring to 18777.

In past 24 hours, US recorded the highest jump in number of deaths with 2508 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University, while the total number of infections now stands at 5,01,560, till 1130 hrs (IST).

The US has become the first country to record more than 2,000 corona linked deaths in one day. Now, it is only behind Italy which has recorded 18,849 deaths since the outbreak of the virus.
The US has the most number of confirmed cases, followed by Spain and Italy, with 158,273 and 147,577 patients, respectively.

The virus, which originated from Wuhan province of China has till date infected a total of 1,696,139 people across the world, with over 102,000 fatalities.
