Man, woman charged with human trafficking as victim escapes

Toronto, July 22 (IBNS): A man and a woman were charged with human trafficking after a teenaged girl escaped from their clutches and contacted the police, media reports said.

As per the victim's version, a year ago, she was contacted by a 16-year-old girl, who convinced her to reach Toronto for a hangout.

The girl brought the victim to a 26-year-old Shamar Clarke, who forced her to provide sexual services for money.

Police said the victim, who was 15 years then, was forced to work for sex trade. She was also threatened, held and sexally exploited.

After two weeks of enduring the captivity by Clarke and the girl, the victim escaped and contacted the police.

After the time consuming investigation, police managed to get an access to the accused on Wednesday.
