Ottawa, Oct 24 (IBNS): The Liberals are likely to increase Canada child benefit, received by several families in the country, a report by CTV News said.

The officials told the CTV News about the increase in child benefit when finance minister Bill Morneau gave a statement on Tuesday.

According to the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) programme, introduced by the liberals in July 2016, families with children below the age of 18 are facilitated by a monthly payment which is tied to the income.

According to the programme, family with children under the age of six, receives a monthly payment of $6,400.

Families with children at an age from six and 17, receives the amount of $5,400.

However, the amount starts to decrease once the family attains the income of $30,000.

The government has also created an online calculator which helps the families to calculate the amount they are entitled to.

An extra amount of $227 is added if one gets the qualification of a disability payment.
