The Israel Defense Forces on Sunday confirmed the elimination of a top commander of Hezbollah's Nasser Brigade rocket unit in southern Lebanon.

The commander was identified as Jaafar Khader Faour.

The IDF said he was responsible for conducting multiple rocket attacks toward the Golan region of Israel.

In an Xpost, IDF said: "Faour was responsible for multiple rocket attacks toward the Golan, including an attack that resulted in the deaths of Israeli civilians from Kibbutz Ortal, an attack on Majdal Shams which killed 12 children and injured many and the rocket attack on Metula last Thursday, which resulted in the deaths of 5 civilians."

"Additionally, Faour was responsible for terrorist attacks carried out from eastern Lebanon, from which the first rocket launches toward Israeli territory were fired on October 8, under his command," IDF said.

Meanwhile,  Israeli naval commandos captured a senior   Hezbollah official during a raid conducted in northern Lebanon on Friday.

Lebanese media reported that Israeli special forces arrived from the sea and raided a chalet on the coast of Batroun, south of Tripoli, and took one person with them before leaving the area in speedboats, reported The Times of Israel.

According to reports, the captured person was identified as Imad Amhaz.
