Toronto, Apr 27 (IBNS): The #TorontoStrong Fund, established in response to Monday’s horrific van attack, has surpassed $1 million in donations, media reports said.

The fund has been a collaborative effort of the City of Toronto and Toronto Foundation (TF), which is one of the top 191 community foundations in Canada and facilitates charitable donations for maximum community impact.

Through the Vital Toronto Fund, TF engages in city building, mobilizing people and resources to increase the quality of life in Toronto.

“The horrific events of April 23 have shown the world how Toronto responds to tragedy. We are united in grief and the desire to support those affected by Monday's attack,” said Mayor John Tory. “Through the generosity and outpouring of support from individual donors, corporate citizens and community organizations, the City of Toronto’s partnership with the Toronto Foundation to create the #TorontoStrong Fund has now raised more than $1 million.”

The funds were raised from personal donations as well as from many generous corporate donations.
