France: Paris placed on maximum coronavirus alert

| @indiablooms | Oct 05, 2020, at 09:56 pm

Paris/UNI:  The French capital, Paris, was on Monday placed on maximum alert to curb after a spurt in coronavirus cases.

Bars in Paris and three surrounding counties will close on Tuesday as part of these measures, the Prime Minister's office said. However, restaurants will stay open with "reinforced precautions".

"This morning, we are taking a new step," Lallement told a press conference, adding that new restrictive rules will be applied in Paris and its inner suburbs for a period of 15 days as "braking measures" to cut coronavirus infections.

The PM's office further said that it recommends "more than ever" that those who can work from home do so and that university lecture halls should be no more than half full.
