At least 14 Jordanian nationals died during Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, media reports said.

Seventeen pilgrims are still missing.

Jordan's Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs spokesperson Sufian Qudah was quoted as saying by The Jordan Times that the Kingdom’s consulate in Jeddah is following up with the Saudi authorities on the burial procedures for the dead pilgrims or bringing them home according to their families’ wish.

Qudah said that the ministry is following up on the search for the 17 missing pilgrims.

He also said the pilgrims who died were not within the official Jordanian Hajj delegation.

Saudi authorities asked pilgrims to stay hydrated and even protect themselves from the sun as mercury levels are touching record high in the country.

Hajj is one of the largest mass pilgrimages in the world.
