Former US President George H W Bush admitted to hospital

Washington, Apr 24 (IBNS): Former US President  George H W Bush has been hospitalised with an infection, his family spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Bush, 93, is admitted to a hospital in Houston.

Family spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement that the former President was admitted to hospital after contracting an infection that spread to his blood.

“He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering,” the statement read.

Bush had served as the president of the nation from 1989 to 1993.

His son George W Bush also served as the President of the US later.

The news emerged at a time when the nation just mourned the death of country's former first lady Barbara Bush.

She passed away last Tuesday and was laid to rest on Saturday.
 
Former President  George H W Bush  and Barbara were married for 73 years.
