Former Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn pulls off stunning escape from Japan to Lebanon

Tokyo/IBNS: Former Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn, who is under trail for financial misconducts, slipped out of the Japanese authorities by fleeing the country to reach Lebanon without a passport and even using wooden musical instrument box, media reports said.

Pulling off a stunning act, the details of which are still unclear, Ghosn along with his wife Carole Nahas Ghosn travelled to Lebanon by using private planes, as per some reports which also claim the former Nissan boss reached Lebanon from Turkey.

So how did he go to Turkey from Japan?

Though it is still unclear how Ghosn escaped from Japan, the Lebanese media stated the former Nissan chief fled the country hiding in a wooden box which is used for storing musical instruments. Surely if the report happens to be true, Ghosn will grab the eyeballs of many.

After reaching Turkey, Ghosn reportedly took a private plane to Lebanon.

As Lebanon does not have an extradition treaty with Japan, the former Nissan boss, who holds Brazilian, French and Lebanese passports which have all been seized by the Japanese authorities, is certainly feeling relieved in Lebanon as reflected in his own words.

"I am now in Lebanon and will no longer be held hostage by a rigged Japanese justice system where guilt is presumed, discrimination is rampant, and basic human rights are denied, in flagrant disregard of Japan's legal obligations under international law and treaties it is bound to uphold," he said in a statement which is quoted by India Today.

"I have not fled justice - I have escaped injustice and political persecution. I can now finally communicate freely with the media, and look forward to starting next week," he added.
