Following bomb threat, Turkish Airlines Flight diverts to Canada
New Delhi, Nov 22 (IBNS): The Turkish Airlines flight from New York City to Istanbul was on Sunday diverted and landed in Canada after it received a bomb threat, reports said.
Halifax Stanfield International Airport said on its Twitter Handle that Flight 2 with 256 people on board had landed safely and that police were at the scene.
"Turkish Airlines passenger transfer to terminal @HfxStanfield going smoothly. 256 passengers and crew on flight. All safe. @RCMPNS on scene," the tweet read.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia has said that it would not comment on the threat and was looking to identify the person or persons responsible.
The police will be searching the Turkish Airlines plane using police dogs trained in explosives, said reports.
