Christy Clark to lead Liberal minority government in British Columbia

Federal liberal government wanted to see Premier Christy Clark's provincial government became victorious.

While keeping that objective on sight, Prime Minister's Office issued a public release during penultimate hour of the election campaign stating that the PM, Trudeau had been seriously considering premier Clark's request to ban American shipment of thermal coal through B.C.

This is a retaliatory measure against Trump Administration's decision of slapping duties on Canadian softwood lumber.

Justin Trudeau called Clark on Wednesday after her provincial liberal party came as a single largest party but fell 1 seat short of absolute majority.

Prime Minister Trudeau, in his message congratulated Premier Clark and said he looked forward to work with her.

Now for Premier Clark the biggest task is to attain absolute majority in the floor of the assembly.

The B.C. Liberal will have the first minority government since 1952, if succeeded in making a deal with Green Party.

However the chance of forming government is equally the same for New Democrats (NDP) led by John Hogan if he becomes successful in cutting deal with Green Party.

Meanwhile, the Federal government's approval for Kinder Morgan's proposed Trans Mountain pipeline and  another approval for Site C Hydroelectric dam on Peace River in northeastern B.C. are in danger of being materialized, They were ardently supported by the provincial liberal but were vehemently opposed by both NDP & Green Party as reported by the media.

Now it is interesting to watch how the political permutation combination will take shape for the future of B.C. politics.
