Celebrating India's 70th Independence Day Anniversary with Canada’s 150th Anniversary in Toronto

Toronto, Aug 10 (IBNS): Dinesh Bhatia, Consulate General of India in Toronto, would be the chief guest at Panorama India's joint celebration of India's 70th Independence Day and Canada's 150th Birthday on Aug 20 at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto.

The free community event will be held between 12 pm and 10 pm, the organisers said. It aims to  bring together the local Indian community through celebration of unity in diversity.

The event will have a Grand Parade, organised by Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.

Cultural groups from the Greater Toronto Area will participate in 20 floats, which will represent the various Indian states. .

Other highlights include performances by local dancers and Panorama Idol singers.

Manjeet Singh Ral, better known by his stage-name Manj Musik -- an Indian singer, songwriter and music producer -- will perform with Dhol, Bass (RDB) Manj and Nindy.

Sharayu Date, an award winning singer from Pune, will showcase her singing talent.

Parvaaz, a Bangalore-based rock band, consisting of Khalid Ahamed (vocals), Kashif Iqbal (guitar), Fidel D'souza (bass) will be part of the programme.

Cricket Pitch and Kids Zone are other featured activities that would be present on that day.

There would be various food stall, International Marketplace and Meena Bazaar which will display a variety of clothes, food and jewelry booths.
