Ouagadougou, Jan 16 (IBNS): A Canadian was kidnapped in northern Burkina Faso, a country in west Africa, on Tuesday night, media reports said.

Security Minister Clement Sawadogo told CBC News that the man was kidnapped by a dozen men near the border with Niger.

The abduction took place at an area in Burkina Faso capital, Ouagadougou, where the government had warned that there is a growing jihadist attack.

"We have alerted our entire security presence to find these people," Sawadogo has been quoted by CBC News.
