Lima/Ottawa, Apr 23 (IBNS): A Canadian man has been killed in Peru over the suspicion of killing an indigenous traditional healer, media reports said.

The man has been identified as Canadian Sebastian Paul Woodroffe.

The deceased person Olivia Arevalo Lomas was 81.

Lomas' relatives said that a foreigner had asked her for heeling and then killed her.

Meanwhile a video has emerged in which the man could be seen strangled by several villagers over the suspicion of the murder.

Peru's Ombudsman's Office has called an investigation over the lynching.

The prosecutors, who said it is too early to name the accused, are thinking several possibilities behind the murder of Lomas.

Arevalo's grandson has been quoted by CTV News, "..there is justice for those who have money"

"Us, we don't see justice if we don't have money even though we are innocent."

Spokesperson of Global Affairs Canada told CTV News, "Canada extends its deepest condolences following the reported assassination of‎ Olivia Arevalo Lomas, an Indigenous elder and human rights defender of the Shipibo-Conibo people in Peru's Ucayali region."
