Toronto/IBNS: The city of Toronto is marking school crossing guard appreciation week starting June 5 through June 9 to recognize the significant contributions that school crossing guards make in enhancing road safety within our school communities.

The largest of its kind in Canada, the city’s school crossing program with 825 school crossing guards is working to improve road safety in Toronto by helping children cross the road and reminding drivers and people cycling of the presence of pedestrians at key intersections.

The public participation in this year’s school crossing guard appreciation week is being encouraged by handing out thank you cards to school crossing guards.
