Canada: Suspect in Fredericton shooting had firearms licence, says police

Fredericton, Aug 14 (IBNS): Police on Monday said that the New Brunswick man who on Friday killed two civilians and two police officers using a long gun had a firearms license, media reports said.

Deputy Chief Martin Gaudet told reporters on Monday at a press conference outside of the Fredericton Police Department, that the firearm is not prohibited or restricted.

The suspect, Vincent Raymond (48), has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder.

Raymond will stay in custody till Aug 27 and would be be produced before the court on that day.

Among the deceased, two were officers, Const. Robb Costello (45) and Const. Sara Mae Burns (43).

The third person killed was Donnie Robichaud (42), a father of three.

The fourth victim.had been identified as Bobbie Lee Wright, 32 years of age.

The police department had been transformed into a memorial for the deceased officers, with flowers, cards and teddy bears set up outside the headquarters.
