Canada: MP Sahota supports 2018 federal budget's focus on equality and growth of middle class

Ottawa, Mar 3 (IBNS):  Ruby Sahota, Member of Parliament (MP) for Brampton North, on Friday applauded the 2018 federal budget's focus on equality and growth of Canada's middle class, media reports said.

“The Government has an outstanding record of working to support the middle class and those working hard to join it; this budget is yet another positive step forward. With more money for low income and middle class Canadians, including families, women and newcomers, Budget 2018 will help ensure that everyone in this country, including my five year old son, is given the same opportunity to succeed.” Sahota said.

Canada's next steps towards building a more equal, competitive, sustainable and fair Canada would go a long way when science, curiosity, and innovation would further influence economy growth, she said.

Canada is reportedly confident in investing to strengthen and grow the middle class, and lay a solid foundation for future generations.

The 2018 budget aims to see that most needy persons should be benefited by this program.

The government also aims to help struggling Canadians by providing them with additional funding to the Rental Construction Financing Initiative enabling them to construct new rental units across the country.

The government's aim to create more well-paying jobs complemented by ground-breaking research would benefit everyone by investing in five innovation superclusters across Canada.

The five selected superclusters funded by the government -- include the Ocean Supercluster (Atlantic Canada), the SCALE.AI Supercluster (Quebec), the Protein Industries Supercluster (Prairies), the Digital Technology Supercluster (British Columbia) and the Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster (Ontario) --  will support over 300 small businesses who can draw on the expertise of the larger multinational enterprises.

Canada is also reportedly launching several new funding streams to support women with new skills needed by them in the workforce, including a three-year pilot program specifically for newcomer women of visible minorities.
