Canada MP Maxime Bernier questions Trudeau's 'diversity' slogan

Ottawa, Aug 13 (IBNS): Canada's Conservative MP Maxime Bernier has questioned Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's 'diversity' slogan, saying it will lead to destruction of the country.

In a series of tweets, Bernier torn apart Trudeau.

In the first tweet, Bernier said: "Trudeau continues to promote its slogan "Diversity is Our strength". Yes, Canada is a huge and diverse country. This diversity defines us and must be celebrated. But where do we draw the line?"

Upholding Canada as a country where freedom of speech is prevalent, Bernier said: "ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities have been suppressed in the past. We have done a long way to rectify these inequities and give equal rights to all. Canada is now one of the countries where you can most freely express your identity."

"But why promote ever more diversity? If anything is Canadian, what does it mean to be Canadian? Why not focus on our cultural traditions, what we have in common that differentiates us from other cultures and societies?"

In the fourth tweet, Bernier tweeted, "Welcoming people who reject the fundamental values of the west of freedom, equality, tolerance and openness does not make us stronger. Those who refuse to integrate and want to live in their ghettos do not make our society stronger."

The Conservative MP, in the fifth tweet, said Trudeau's diversity will divide the country into pieces. "The extreme multiculturalism and Trudeau's diversity cult will divide us into small tribes that are less and less in common, apart from their dependence on the government. Political clientele that we buy with taxpayers ' dollars and privileges."

He added, "cultural Balkanization brings distrust, social conflict and potentially violence as seen everywhere. It is time to reverse this trend before the situation worsens. More diversity won't make us stronger, it will destroy our country."
