Canada: Mississauga woman, toddler killed in crash in Florida

Toronto, Jan 6 (IBNS): Police have identified a Mississauga woman and her four-year-old child who were killed in a crash in Florida earlier this week, media reports said.

The accident took place earlier this on the I-95 south of Jacksonville, Florida at around 2 p.m in which Nazia Hossain 32 and Ayaan Haque, 4 both from Mississauga were rushed to hospital but succumbed to their injuries some time later CP24 reports said.

According to a post on the Facebook account of Nazia Hossain which read“The crash, which was reported about 2 p.m., shut down all northbound lanes of I-95 just south of the International Golf Parkway interchange for several hours, backing up traffic for miles.

When first responders arrived at the scene, four people were found trapped inside the overturned gray Infiniti FX35, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.

Hossain, the driver, was pronounced dead and Haque was taken to UF Health Hospital, where he later died, troopers said.

The two other passengers were airlifted to Orange Park Medical Center. Troopers said a 42-year-old woman from Bowie, Maryland, was seriously injured and a 37-year-old man from Mississauga suffered minor injuries.”

According to a press release issued by the Florida Highway Patrol, a Mazda Infiniti SUV was traveling northbound on the highway when it veered onto a shoulder, struck a tree and rolled over.
