Canada: Jury finds Nicholas Butcher guilty of killing girlfriend

Halifax, Apr 28 (IBNS): A jury has found Nicholas Butcher guilty of killing a yoga instructor Kristin Johnston, who was also the convict's girlfriend, media reports said.

Butcher has been found guilty of second degree murder.

The police found Johnston's body in a blood-soaked bed at her house on Mar 26, 2016.

The jury heard Butcher and Johnston were in a relationship.

The Crown argued that Butcher had deliberately killed Johnston after feeling that the relationship was deteriorating.

The Crown also said Butcher wanted Johnston should be of none if he doesn't get her.

However, the defence lawyer said Butcher acted as a self defence while Johnston tried to attack him.

After the verdict, Butcher showed no emotion.
