Ottawa/IBNS: Canada's Immigration Agency has granted 1.39 lakh Study Permit to the Indian students in 2019 to pursue higher degrees, media reports said.

The number is the highest in Canada as well as in the history of India.

The Canadian government has approved 3.55 lakh students to study in the country.

34.5% of 3.55 lakh students are Indians followed by 21 per cent of Chinese students.

Over the years, while the number of Chinese students studying in Canada has steadily declined, the number of Indian students increased.

In 2019, the number of Chinese students in Canada is 84710 as opposed to 85,165 in 2018.

On the other hand, the number of Indian students has increased by 30.3% from 2018.
