At least four Indo-Canadian people died after the Tesla car in which they were travelling caught fire after hitting a divider close to Toronto city in Canada recently, police said.

"On Thursday, October 24, 2024, at approximately 12:13 a.m., police responded to a call for Personal Injury Collision in the Lake Shore Boulevard East and Cherry Street area," Toronto Police Service said in a statement.

Police said the EV lost control and struck the guard rail and then a concrete pillar.

"The Tesla then became engulfed in flames," the police release said.

Police said four occupants of the car died at the site of the mishap.

"The fifth occupant, a 25-year-old female, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries," read the statement issued by the police.

The victims were all aged between 20s and early 30s.
