Brazil: Gunman opens fire in cathedral, five killed

Sao Paulo, Dec 12 (IBNS): At least five people were killed as a gunman opened fire in a Catholic cathedral near Brazil's Sao Paulo city on Wednesday, media reports said.

The attack happened towards the end of a midday service in the Metropolitan Cathedral in Campinas city, police was quoted as saying by BBC.

According to reports, the gunman, who was armed with a revolver, started shooting inside the church.

He also shot himself dead before the police could arrest him.

The reason behind the attack is still not known.

The identities of the attacker and the deceased are not known yet.
