Blast kills 1, injures 6 in Afghanistan's Gardez city

Gardez, Afghanistan, Jul 21 (Xinhua/UNI) At least one person has been confirmed dead and six others injured as a blast rocked Gardez city, the capital of eastern Paktia province, on Sunday, local official Abdullah Hasrat said.

According to the official, the blast happened at the second precinct of Gardez city at around 4:00 p.m. local time, killing one person on the spot and injuring six others including a university student.

Without providing more details, the official said an investigation had been launched into the case, adding that details would be shared with media after completion of the probe.

Meantime, provincial government spokesman Sardar Wali Tabasam also confirmed the blast, saying the bomb was planted on a car killing a senior police officer and injuring his driver.
