Bangladesh hands over Myanmar Army personnel to his nation

Dhaka, Mar 3 (IBNS): Thirty nine days since he was 'detained' along the border in Bandarban, the  Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) handed over a member of Myanmar Army to Myanmar on Sunday.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) handed over a member of Myanmar Army to Myanmar today, 39 days after he was “detained” along the border in Bandarban on January 24, an official of the Bangladeshi paramilitary force has told The Daily Star.

The Myanmar Army personnel was identified as Aung Bo Thin.

Aung Bo Thin was handed over to the Myanmar Army on Bangladesh-Myanmar Friendship Bridge at Ghumdum point along the border in Naikhangchhari upazila at 12:05pm, BGB battalion- 34 Commander Lt Col Ali Haider Azad Ahmed was quoted as saying by the Bangladesh-based newspaper.

During the event when the army personnel was handed over to his nation,  BGB battalion-11 Director Lt Col Mohammad Asaduzzaman led the BGB delegation while Sector-1 Commander Brigadier General Ming Tang led the Myanmar’s Border Guard Police delegation, media reports said.

AS per The Daily Star report, the member of LIB-287 Battalion of Myanmar Army was “detained” on charge of intruding into Bangladesh through Bandarban’s Bhallukkhaiya border on January 24.
