Monrovia, Aug 17 (IBNS) At least 20 suspected Ebola patients fled from a clinic in which they were undergoing treatment in Liberia as it was attacked and looted by protesters, media reports said.

"The incident happened in the densely populated West Point township on Saturday evening," BBC reported.

"Officials said blood-stained bedding looted from the centre posed a serious infection risk," it said.

The centre was established to observe suspected Ebola patients.

The last statistics compiled by WHO show that the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa continues to escalate, with 1975 cases and 1069 deaths reported from Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.
