Washington/UNI: Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani, urging the Iraqi government to fulfill commitments in safeguarding US installations on Iraqi soil and to pursue those responsible for attacks on US personnel, Spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a statement.

"Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani.

"The Secretary called on the Iraqi government to fulfill its commitments to protect all installations hosting US personnel at its invitation and to pursue those responsible for attacks on US personnel in Iraq," the statement said on Friday.

Furthermore, Blinken and the Prime Minister engaged in discussions concerning the Israel-Hamas conflict, emphasizing the need to prevent its escalation, the statement said.

"The Secretary discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and our work with Iraq and other partners in the region to identify the steps that we can take now to lay the foundation for a just and lasting peace," the statement added.
