Amazon worker dies on warehouse floor, co-workers told to keep working: Report

| @indiablooms | Apr 14, 2026, at 06:09 pm

An employee of Amazon died at a warehouse in Troutdale, Oregon, recently, with co-workers alleging that operations continued for some time even after the incident occurred.

The employee collapsed on April 6 on the second level of the facility, according to a report by The Western Edge. A company spokesperson confirmed the death to TechCrunch but did not disclose the cause.

Several workers told the publication that employees were instructed to continue their tasks—including picking items, fetching totes and loading trucks—for more than an hour while the man lay on the floor and managers assessed the situation.

Despite news of the death spreading within the facility, some workers claimed that operations were not immediately halted.

“Just turn around and not look. Let’s get back to work,” one employee was quoted as saying by  The Western Edge, recalling instructions allegedly given by a manager.

The cause of death remains unclear.

Online reactions also highlighted safety concerns at the facility.

In posts on Reddit, some users alleged that injuries were relatively common at the warehouse, citing previous incidents involving workers falling ill or getting hurt on the job.

A Reddit user said: " That building is known for having a large amount of injuries. At least they had the decency and respect to send everyone home."

Another said: " Yeah, I noticed that people get hurt all of the time for some reason. About a month or so ago, someone passed out while doing rebin and another time I watched an older woman fall while walking."
