Afghanistan: Dozen killed in American Univ attack in Kabul

Kabul, Aug 25 (IBNS): At least 12 people were killed and another 30 injured in a coordinated militant attack on the American University in Kabul on Wednesday evening, reports said.

Kabul police chief General Abdul Rahman Rahimi confirmed the death toll, Khaama Press reported.

Though 700 students were rescued by security forces, a university guard was killed in the onslaught.

Rahimi added that a foreign lecturer was one among the 30 injured.

The attack was caused following the detonation of a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED).

A group is yet to shoulder responsibility for the attack.

The operation has concluded, media reports said.

Earlier, an American and his Australian colleague from the same university were abducted at gunpoint and remain missing till date.
