After Sri Lanka, now Thailand is offering visa-free entry for Indian tourists

Thailand is offering visa-free entry for tourists from India and Taiwan from November 10 to May 10 next year, officials said, a measure expected to boost tourism in the country.

“Tourists from India and Taiwan can enter Thailand for 30 days,” government spokesman Chai Wacharonke was quoted as saying by The Nation.

Before the Cabinet approved the visa waiver, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said the government was looking into ways of making it easier for foreign tourists to travel, the newspaper reported.

According to reports, Thailand is targeting 28 million arrivals in the current year.

The latest stimulus visa schemes for tourists from Russia, India and Taiwan followed the temporary tourist visa exemption implemented for tourists from China and Kazakhstan, effective from 25 September 2023 to 29 February 2024, reports TAT News.

The Sri Lankan government recently announced a visa-free entry for visitors from India.

A similar initiative was announced by the government for people of six other countries -China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand.

The decision was approved by the Sri Lankan Cabinet.
