10 batches of pilgrims to Kailash Mansarovar to be allowed via Nathula from June onwards

Gangtok, Apr 22 (UNI): The Ministry of External Affairs has been registering Kailash Mansarovar bound pilgrims online, since April 9 last.

The registration will continue till May 9 next only for Indian Citizens.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Mount Kailash-Mansarovar is scheduled to start from June 11 next for the first batch via Nathula pass.

Coming from across the country, pilgrims will be in Delhi for formalities and reach here on June 15.

They will move further towards Sino-Indian border on the June 16.

In between pilgrims will halt for acclimatization at 15th and 17th mile for 3 days.

Final departure for Kangma (Tibetan Autonomous Region) China and onwards Journey to Kailash-Mansarover will follow medical clearance at Sherathang on Indian side.

The KMY fare has increased this year and it is to be paid @ Rs 2.5 Lakhs per person.

Last year, the fare was Rs 2 Lakhs.

Ten batches of Pilgrims are expected to be visiting Holy Mount Kailash and Mansarover, also a holy Lake, via Gangtok from June 15 till August.

Only Indian Citizens from 18 to 70 are allowed to be in this pilgrimage.

Travelling via Nathula will be decided by lottery in favour of applicants, with first preference to senior citizens, as Nathula is preferrable for Senior Citizens than Lipulekh pass in Uttrakhand, which involves trekking.
