West Indies cricket icon Brian Lara admitted to hospital in Mumbai

Mumbai, June 25 (IBNS): West Indies cricket legend and former skipper of the national side Brian Lara was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai after he complained of chest pain on Tuesday.

According to media reports, he has been admitted to Global Hospital in Parel.

While hospital authorities refused to divulge any information, sources said that he had complained of chest pain, reported The Hindu.

Sources told the newspaper that he was at an event in a nearby hotel when he complained of discomfort. 

The West Indies player, who is known as one of the best batsmen to play the game, is currently in India as a cricket expert for the official broadcasters of World Cup 2019.

Lara holds the record of scoring unbeaten 400 runs in Test cricket.

In the world of Test cricket, Lara played  131 Tests for the West Indies and scored nearly 12,000 runs at an average of 52.89.  

He played 299 ODI matches for the national side.

He scored  10,405 runs in the 50-over format.

India's Sachin Tendulkar and Windies cricketer Lara were considered as two of the best players of the game during their era.
