Kolkata/Mumbai, Oct 28 (IBNS) With barely ten days to go for the inaugural edition of the Cricket All Stars T20 Series, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag announced his decision to play in the 3-match series, to be hosted in the United States.

Conceived and conceptualized by modern cricketing greats Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne, the All Stars are set to feature some of the most impactful players post 80's.

Retired cricketers like Wasim Akram, Carl Hooper, Courtney Walsh, Kumara Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, Lance Klusener, Jonty Rhodes along with 22 other cricketers have confirmed their association with the newly launched tournament aimed to develop the standard of cricket in America.

Welcoming the new member, Sachin Tendulkar, the captain of his team, Sachin's Blasters wrote on Twitter: "Warm welcome to my friend & a batsman with his distinct style! @virendersehwag joins us at @T20AllStars #10DaystoGo ."

The All Stars T20 matches are scheduled for November 7 in New York, November 11 in Houston and November 14 in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Sehwag, who is busy leading his domestic side Haryana in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, India's domestic cricket league is set to miss the last two group stage encounters owing to his commitment in the All Stars Series.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Anirudh Chaudhary, secretary of the Haryana Cricket Association, said, "Every match he is part of this team is huge for this team. Every interaction with him benefits the players. We are looking at him mentoring the players and our objective is achieved by his presence around the squad. Once a player has announced his international retirement, anything he contributes at Ranji level we should gleefully accept."
