Hyderabad, Feb 9 (IBNS): India skipper Virat Kohli registered his 16th Test century as India ended day one of the solitary Test match against Bangladesh on top, here on Thursday.

At the end of day's play, the home side have put on 356 runs for the loss of three wickets.

Leading the charge is Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who's batting at 111 runs.

The 'run-machine', as he is dubbed now, registered his 16th Test century with a boundary.

His 141-ball unbeaten innings was laden with 12 fours.

Following the dismissal of Murali Vijay, who completed his century post tea, Kohli and his deputy Ajinkya Rahane added 122 runs for the fourth wicket off 158 deliveries.

Rahane, who missed the last Test match against England due to an injury, in unbeaten at 45 runs, having faced 60 balls, the Mumbaikar has managed to dispatch seven of those to the fence.

Among the wicket-takers were Taskin Ahmed, who accounted for KL Rahul (2) and Mehdi Hasan, who picked up Cheteshwar Pujara (83).

Taijul Islam removed Vijay, following the latter's failure to read the line of the delivery.

Earlier in the day, Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first.

The visiting team created and missed at least three chances in the first session, which included a regulation run-out of Murali Vijay, who later went on to score a century.
