Thiruvananthapuram: Virat Kohli was in sublime touch as he notched up yet another century in the final ODI against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram.

Virat Kohli put on a show in the final match of the series against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram as he notched up his 46th ODI ton.

The hundred was his 21st at home in ODIs, taking him past Sachin Tendulkar's tally of 20.

The century also takes him closer to Sachin's overall ODI century tally of 49, now just three away from the Little Master's record.

Kohli brought up his century in 85 balls but switched gears after getting to the milestone, finishing on 166* off 110. This is now his second-highest score in ODI cricket and the highest at home. His sensational knock was laced with 13 fours and eight maximums, the highest sixes he has smashed in an ODI innings.

It was a day where no records were spared as Virat Kohli during the course of his innings surpassed Mahela Jayawardene in the all-time ODI run-getters list.

He now sits fifth with 12754 runs, now only behind Sanath Jayasuriya (13430), Ricky Ponting (13704), Kumar Sangakkara (14234) and Sachin Tendulkar (18426).

India opted to bat first after winning the toss earlier in the day. The openers gave India the perfect start but once Rohit Sharma departed, Shubman Gill and Kohli took the attack to the opposition with a century stand.

Gill brought up his second ODI ton (116 off 97 balls) after which Kohli applied the finishing touches as India set Sri Lanka a massive target of 391.
