Birmingham, June 4 (IBNS): In a rain-hit match, Indian batsmen performed strongly to help side post 319 runs for the loss of three wickets in a high-voltage Champions Trophy match against Pakistan here on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma (91) and Shikhar Dhawan (68) added 136 runs in their first wicket partnership to give India a solid start at the beginning of the innings.

After Dhawan, who smashed six boundaries and a six, departed, Virat Kohli came down with a purpose.

He hit a captain's knock of 81 unbeaten runs, hammering six boundaries and three sixes.

Yuvraj Singh showed touch of his earlier form as he timed the ball well and hit some memorable shots outside the park.

He smashed eight boundaries and a boundary in his 32-ball 53 runs knock.

Hardik Pandya worked out well at the end as the Indian batsman hit three sixes in the final over of the 48-over match to help India post a competitive 319 runs.

Imad Wasim was hit three sixes in the 48th over by Pandya while Kohli finished the innings off in style with a boundary.

Pakistan need to score 324 runs for victory.
