Udayjit captures Tata Steel Tolly Juniors Title

Kolkata, June 12 (IBNS):Overnight leader UdayjitBhalotia rallied on to capture his maiden title on the Tata Steel IGU East Zone Junior Sub-Junior Tour when he won the Tata Steel Tolly Juniors Cup at the Par-71 Tollygunj Club here on Thursday.

Udayjit, son of former top India professional Indrajit, played two rounds of good disciplined golf to win by a margin of nine strokes over Sharif Khan in the top category (A&B). Udayjit finished with tournament tally of 7-0ver 147.

BibekSardar was the winner in category B with a total score of 160 while Devansh Chadha was the runner up finishing just a stroke behind. Hassan Rahman finished third at 165.

In category C, AbhikanksBasu with a score of 169 emerged as the champion followed by Rajib Ali and ManavBansal 187 and 189 respectively.

AravShanghavi was the winner in Cat D with a total of 161, with KaushalBagrodia finishing as the the runner-upat 170 while PranshuPoddarended up third with a score of 173.

In category E, the nine hole tournament for the juniors was won by GarvLakhmani who shot an 89 followed by GurmehrBindraand Mitreya Milan in the second and third place respectively.

In Girls top category, Susnata Deb wore the crown of the champion while Marshneil Prasad and MamtaSaraogi finished second and third respectively.YashodharaBhalotia won in Category B while Catgeory C honours went to Aahana Kapoor.

Udayjitwho began the day at one–over par, went about his game in a similar fashion by making pars on the opening two holes while dropping a stroke on the par-4 third hole. He regained his momentum on the next three holes by making pars on each of them.

However with bogeys on the seventh and the ninth hole, he took the turn at 3-over. Equipped with a six-shot lead, he never was really in any kind of danger from the rest of the field.

He finished his round with a total of 6-over par for the day.
