Tiago Mendes joins Atletico Madrid coaching staff

Madrid, July 14 (IBNS): Footballer Tiago Mendes, who has retired recently, has joined Atletico Madrid as assistant of the first team’s coaching staff.

The coaching staff is led by Diego Pablo Simeone.

"Tiago Mendes will continue to be connected with our club. The Portuguese joins up as assistant of the first team’s coaching staff, led by Diego Pablo Simeone," the club said in a statement.

The midfielder came to Atlético de Madrid in January of 2010, loaned by Juventus.

The clubs said: "On the 20th of July of 2011 he signed with our club, and his time as our player finished last May."
