Shreyas Iyer makes Ranji Trophy return with 48 ahead of crucial England Test series

Mumbai/IBNS: After several years, India's star batter Shreyas Iyer returned to Ranji Trophy in what would prepare him for the upcoming Test series against England at home.

Iyer, a regular player of Team India, came out to bat when Mumbai were at 130/3 against Andhra in the Elite Group B match on Friday.

The right-handed batter, who is known for quick scoring, smashed seven fours to slam 48 in as many balls before getting dismissed by Nitish Reddy.

Iyer's return to the domestic circuit comes following his poor outing in South Africa against the host country.

In four innings where he appeared, he scored 31, 6, 0 and 4 not out.

India will take on England for a five-match Test series from January 25.
