Shami cleared off corruption charges, offered BCCI contarct

New Delhi, Mar 23 (IBNS): After Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was cleared by the BCCI off match-fixing allegations leveled against him, he has also been offered an annual retainership contract.

The BCCI on Friday said Shami has been offered a Grade B contract.

A strike bowler, Shami has picked up 110 wickets in the 30 Tests so far played by him.

In his career, he took 91 wickets in 50 ODI matches while he managed to pick up eight wickets in seven T20 matches.

"The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) had requested Mr Neeraj Kumar, former Police Commissioner of Delhi and Head of BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit, to investigate the allegations against Mohd. Shami insofar as they pertain to the provisions of the BCCI Anti-Corruption Code," read a statement issued by the BCCI.

"Mr Neeraj Kumar has submitted his confidential report to the CoA. Based on the conclusions in the said report, the CoA is of the view that no further actions/ proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter," read the statement.

Speaking on the contract given to him, the board said: "Mr Neeraj Kumar has submitted his confidential report to the CoA. Based on the conclusions in the said report, the CoA is of the view that no further actions/ proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter."

Hemant Dua, CEO,Delhi Daredevils, said Shami will play for Delhi Daredevils in the upcoming IPL tournament.

"Happy to be informed that @MdShami11 has been cleared by #ACU of @BCCI and can play with @DelhiDaredevils in the #VivoIPL #DilDilli," Dua tweeted.
