Shahid Afridi wishes India on Independence Day, wishes two nations start playing cricket again

Islamabad, Aug 15 (IBNS): Wishing Indians on Independence Day, ex-Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Wednesday expressed his hopes that India and Pakistan should resume playing cricket again.

Afridi tweeted: "Happy Independence Day to #India, our neighbors across the border. I sincerely hope that from this year onwards, both Pakistan and India work towards resolving their issues for a better, peaceful and prosperous region where India Pak cricket matches can also be frequently held."

The two teams have not played a full test series since 2007.

In that year, Pakistan had visited India to play three Tests and five One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

The two teams had played three ODIs and two T20s in India in December 2012.
Since then the two teams have only played in ICC organised tournaments or the Asia Cup.

They last played in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.

Pakistan had defeated India in the final of the tournament to lift the trophy.
