New York, Sept 8 (IBNS): US Tennis star Serena Williams lifted her sixth US Open title by defeating Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki in the women's singles final here.

Williams won the 18th Grand Slam title of her career by beating her opponent 6-3 6-3 at Flushing Meadows.

Williams displayed one of the best performance of the season to win the title.

“It was an unbelievable moment for me,” Williams was quoted  saying by the usopen.org.

“Playing all those matches this summer really helped me to get my confidence up. I just needed that confidence and calmness. I’ve been practicing so hard and all that hard work was showing through today," she said.

Her opponent said:“You played better than me and you’re an inspiration on and off the court.”
