Second Test: Match washed out due to rain, India retain 1-0 lead

Bengaluru, Nov 18 (IBNS) With rain taking centre stage on day 5, it was a matter of time before the day and the Test match between India and South Africa was called off and the inevitable happened after the umpires had a good look at the soggy outfield, here on Wednesday.

India still have a 1-0 lead in the four match series, owing to their past heroics in Mohali where they pummeled the Proteas and won the match inside three days.

But Virat Kohli sounded disappointed in the post match conference. Given their performance, Kohli and his men had the chance to go 2-0 in the series but thanks to the downpour, which for the first time had managed to keep the players and play at bay for four consecutive days in the Indian subcontinent.

When asked about the selection of Stuart Binny, Kohli said, "Stuart is someone who can bowl you consistent medium pace and it's about choosing the right players according to the situation. You cannot be stubborn about choosing your players and say that this particular player has the ability so lets play him."

Kohli also spoke about the bonhomie and flexibility in the team. "Like we said, there is a lot of flexibility in the team. We are confident about doing well. Amit Mishra bowled really well in the last game but we did not play him here because we thought Stuart will do well here."
