Mumbai, Aug 7 (IBNS): Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday appreciated long-serving PepsiCo chief executive officer (CEO) Indra Nooyi for her leadership abilities.

Tendulkar said Nooyi's leadership qualities in PepsiCo was 'remarkable'.

"In today’s day, it’s no small feat to dedicate yourself to something for 24 years, with all your heart and passion. @IndraNooyi’s leadership of PepsiCo has been remarkable indeed. Indra, here’s to you and to your next big milestone," the cricketer tweeted.

Nooyi will step down from her position on Oct 3, the company confirmed on Monday.

She has served the company in the position for 12 years.

PepsiCo announced that its Board of Directors has unanimously elected Ramon Laguarta, 54, to succeed Indra K. Nooyi.

"She will remain Chairman until early 2019 to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. Laguarta was also elected to the company's Board of Directors, effective October 3rd," the company said on Nooyi.
