Rio: Spirited Indian Hockey team go down 1-2 to Netherlands

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 11 (IBNS): A spirited Indian Hockey team took on the unbeaten Netherlands in the group B fixture and lost the match 1-2, here on Thursday.

Though the stronger of the two sides, the Dutch outfit had difficulty in finding the net, going goalless in the first two quarters of the match.

However, at the start of the third quarter, the jinx was broken by them as they took a 1-0 lead.

The joy was short lived as the Men In Blue equalled the score ten minutes later.

The Dutch players increased the rate of their attack in the last quarter and soon took a 2-1 lead, a deficit that proved costly for the Indian side, who lost their second match in the ongoing tournament.
