Relief for fans as Shreyas Iyer, who was injured in abdomen during Australia ODIs, discharged from hospital
Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, who had sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen in the Australia series, has been discharged from hospital.
"He is now stable and recovering well. The BCCI Medical Team, along with specialists in Sydney and India, are pleased with his recovery, and he has been discharged from the hospital today," the Indian cricket board said in a statement.
"The BCCI extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr Koroush Haghighi and his team in Sydney, along with Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala in India, for ensuring Shreyas received the best treatment for his injury. Shreyas will continue to stay in Sydney for his follow-up consultations and will return to India once he is deemed fit to fly."
Iyer sustained the injury while fielding during the third ODI against Australia on October 25, resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding.
The injury was promptly identified, and the bleeding was immediately arrested following a minor procedure.
He has undergone appropriate medical management for the same.
In an X post a few days ago, Iyer wrote, "In an X post, the right-handed batter wrote, "I’m currently in recovery process and getting better, every passing day.
"I’m deeply grateful to see all the kind wishes and support I’ve received — it truly means a lot. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts."
