Rain hits third day, India take 304 runs lead against WI

Jamaica, Aug 2 (IBNS): Rain disrupted the smooth proceedings of the day as India declared at 500 runs for the loss of nine wickets, 304 runs ahead of West Indies, on the third day of the second Test here on Monday.

After KL Rahul's brilliant 158, it was turn for Ajinkya Rahane to show his skills and temperament with the willow as he reached his seventh Test century and remained unbeaten till the end.

In his 108 unbeaten runs knock, where he played 237 balls, hammering 13 boundaries and three sixes, Rahane pushed the lead further as West Indies batsmen will need to perform strongly to give their opponents some challenge.

After Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha (47) departed, adding 98 runs n the sixth wicket partnership with Rahane, it wa sagain Amit Mishra (21) and Rahane who joined in a 33 runs seventh wicket stand later.


Umesh Yadav scored some runs down as he added 19 runs and joined in a 42 runs ninth wicket stand with Rahane as India reached 500 for nine before Kohli declared the innings.

Rain gave some lifeline to West Indies as it completely washed out the final session of the match.

Roston Chase finished the day at (5-121)  and remained the only golden line in the West Indies bowling attack.

Jason Holder,Devendra Bishoo and Shannon Gabriel picked up a wicket each.

West Indies were bowled out for 196 runs in their first innings.

India lead the four-match series 1-0.
