Bengaluru/IBNS: Sports presenter Charu Sharma has already been lauded from all corners for managing the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction here after original auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed due to Postural Hypotension on Saturday.

At around 2 pm on the first day of the IPL bid, Edmeades fell from the podium to the ground leaving everyone in shock.

After a brief halt, Sharma came to the podium in place of Edmeades, who was by then taken to a hospital.

In an interaction with Cricbuzz, Sharma, who is a known face in the sports arena, revealed how he got an "emergency" call from IPL chairman Brijesh Patel to manage the crisis.

"Put on your shoes and come here," Sharma, as he told Cricbuzz, was asked by Patel.

Sharma added, "I live next door, not very far from the hotel. When I reached, I was told what had happened to Hugh Edmeades - the original IPL auctioneer from England, who fell off the dais due to Postural Hypotension.

"I said 'fine, let's do it. We had a 15-minute session. I inquired about what all had been conducted and what was left to do. The IPL officials then asked me if the break should be extended. I said 'don't'. I had some fun."
